Auctionpay Processing Reaches $1 Billion
11/12/2008
PORTLAND, Oregon (November 12, 2008) – Auctionpay, a privately held company that delivers powerful fundraising solutions and credit card payment processing to the nonprofit market nationwide, today announced that the company has surpassed $1B in credit card processing. The company also announced that its client base has grown to 6,000 nonprofits and schools.
The $1B processed demonstrates the generosity of the hundreds of thousands of donors who support Auctionpay’s nonprofit and school clients. Those donated dollars were processed using the company’s Event Payments or Online Payments products—Event Payments for donations collected at live events, and Online Payments for donations collected via the Web. Total proceeds raised by Auctionpay clients are estimated at over $2B.
“This $1B landmark is evidence that, despite the down economy, Americans continue to support the causes they believe in,” said Steve Sterba, CEO of Auctionpay. “We are proud to participate in the process of helping our clients raise money to further their missions.”
A recent Auctionpay survey sent to 60K nonprofits and schools indicates that over 50% hold two to five live events per year as part of their fundraising efforts. In addition, 45% either have a Web-based fundraising strategy in place or have such a plan in development.
“This survey indicates that our clients continue to invest in traditional, events-based fundraising efforts while embracing the new fundraising opportunities made possible by the Internet,” said Auctionpay Board member Chris Onan, General Partner at Appian Venture Partners in Denver. “We’re making investments to ensure that our solutions continue to automate and streamline their endeavors.”
The client whose processing pushed Auctionpay over $1B in processing is Chicago Children’s Museum, who held its annual Be a Kid Again Gala on Saturday, November 1 and raised more than $1M to support critical museum operations. Amy Carmell, the Fundraising Events Coordinator at the Museum, said, “We are delighted to have been the client whose event processing took Auctionpay over the $1B mark. It’s great to ‘give back’ to a company that’s helped us be more efficient at our event every year since 2006.”
