Auctionpay Receives 2007 Oregon Entrepreneurs Network Tom Holce Award for Entrepreneurship

09/24/2007

PORTLAND, Ore – September 24, 2007 — Auctionpay, a leader in fundraising software and service solutions for the nonprofit community, received the 2007 Oregon Entrepreneurs Network Tom Holce Awards for Entrepreneurship in the Working Capital Stage during its 14th annual awards ceremony on September 20, 2007 at the Oregon Convention Center.

Auctionpay President and CEO Steve Sterba credits part of Auctionpay’s success to the size of the market place. According to Sterba, there are 1.7 million nonprofit organizations in the United States, with a collective budget of over two trillion dollars.

Sterba said "You can see the size of the available space for us. In terms of technology, nonprofits today spend about $43 billion per year. The exciting aspect of the market is that nonprofits are adopting technology at a faster pace than prior years and decades."

The winners of the 2007 OEN Tom Holce Awards for Entrepreneurship were chosen by the OEN award judging committee. Companies from throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington were nominated for the Awards, and were narrowed to the 14 finalists after hundreds of hours of due diligence, including site visits and face-to-face interviews.

“The recipients of this year’s awards prove how entrepreneurship can succeed in any industry,” said Linda Weston, executive director and president of OEN. “All of this year’s finalists are inspiring examples of what’s possible when innovation, diligence, a lot of sweat and a little luck come together. They can turn a vision into reality.”

Verne Naito, the chairman of the judges for the award, said, “Auctionpay’s recent financial performance has been impressive and validated for the judges that the company has developed a sound business model and that the company operates in a viable space. Naito went on to say, “Moreover, investors and employees at Auctionpay take pride in helping very deserving charities improve their ability to raise more money for their respective causes. Auctionpay is the kind of company Oregonians can be proud to have as a corporate citizen.”

Founded in 1991, the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to providing opportunities for Oregon entrepreneurs and improving the business climate for emerging, growth-oriented companies statewide.
