Driver for USB-to-Serial Cable
If syncing with event management software, the USB-to-serial driver should be downloaded prior to your event.
Step 1: Updates
If you are using Windows Vista, we highly recommend you install the Microsoft KB941600 update before installing the cable driver. (For more information regarding this update, see Microsoft Article KB941600)
To install the update:
- For Windows Vista 32-Bit*, click here.
- For Windows Vista 64-Bit*, click here.
Step 2: Driver Installation
For these Windows Operating Systems:
- Windows 98SE
- Windows ME
- Windows 2000 SP4
- Windows XP SP2 and above (32 & 64 bit)
- Windows Server 2003 (32 & 64 bit)
- Windows Server 2008 / 2008 R2 (32 & 64 bit)
- Windows Vista (32 & 64 bit)
- Windows 7 (32 & 64 bit)

Note: If you have previously installed the driver, this or any earlier version, clicking the link above may uninstall the old driver (you will see a message indicating so). You may need to click on the link a second time to then install the new driver.
Troubleshooting
If you are experiencing difficulties after installing the driver, please try the following steps:
- Make sure you have followed the above steps and have the terminal attached to your PC and powered on.
- Right click My computer and select Properties.
- On the Hardware tab, select Device Manager
- Expand the Ports section and double click the Prolific driver
- In the driver dialog, select the Port Settings tab
- Click on Advanced
- Uncheck Use FIFO buffers
- Click OK and save
